Prompt Box

Prompt Box is a Chrome extension that helps you save and apply reusable AI prompt templates on sites like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Studio, and Grok. We designed it to be private by default: your templates and settings are stored locally in your browser and are never sent to our servers or third parties.

What we store

All data is kept in your browser using chrome.storage.local:

Your prompt templates and their names.
Per‑site default rules (domain ↔ template mapping).
Basic UI preferences (position, size, theme).

We do not collect analytics, personal identifiers, browsing history, cookies, or account information.

How the extension works

When you click Apply, the extension inserts your selected template into the visible chat input, similar to pasting text.
We read only the minimum DOM necessary to find the input field. We do not read or transmit page content.
Import/Export simply creates a file on your device (for backup or sharing). We do not receive these files.

Permissions

storage — save your templates and settings locally.
scripting — inject the sidebar UI and safely write text into the input field when you request it.
host permissions — run only on supported AI chat sites to provide the sidebar and apply functionality.

Data retention and control

Your data remains on your device until you delete templates, reset settings, or uninstall the extension.
You can clear data at any time from the extension’s settings or via your browser’s extension data controls.

Security

Because Prompt Box stores data locally and does not operate a backend, we do not have access to your templates. Protect your device and browser profile to keep your data safe.

Children’s privacy

Prompt Box is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

We do not collect, process, or sell personal information. If you contact us and provide information (e.g., for support), we will use it only to respond to your request and then delete it upon resolution unless the law requires otherwise.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if the extension’s functionality or permissions change. We will update the “Last updated” date above and publish revisions at this URL.
